You may have to make adjustments, as ever...Hi Ber,
You may have to make adjustments, as everyone has a different shape. I usually start from the measurement that's closest on the forehead, and adjust the neck and chin-to-crown as necessary. Get a large piece of tracing paper. Trace the pattern that's the closest to the size you want in the forehead. Adjust the pattern lines to meet your new target size for the neck and chin to crown. Try to keep the shape similar, following the lines. Make a test-fit in some other material. Adjust as needed on the pattern. Finally, make it in leather. The first one may not turn out perfect, so plan on making more than one to get it right.

Remember: the leather will stretch if you're using a soft lamb. Also, the lacing allowance can give you a bit of play as well. Go in with a mindset that it may not turn out perfect the first time. The percentage enlargement for each measurement is different. Any tips you might share with me. Much obliged.
BerBer Lazarushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07596470533057322472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8028644345155547233.post-4297896022977694782016-12-26T20:55:00.140-08:002016-12-26T20:55:00.140-08:00Hi Ber,
The female hood pattern should perfectly ...Hi Ber,
The female hood pattern should perfectly fit:
Chin-to-crown 25.625 inches
Forehead 21.375 inches
Neck 12.5 inches

To the the percentage you need to edit the pattern, take your measurement and divide it by the numbers above. If it's larger, you'll get an integer greater than 100 (1.05 for example). That's your enlargement percentage (105%). Divide where you want to be by where you are, and you'll get a percentage. Do it for all 3 measurements, and you'll get an idea of how much you need to enlarge or reduce your pattern to get to your desired size. You're welcome, and this hood pattern...Hi Ber,
You're welcome, and this hood pattern should fit males too. I've been working on grading the pattern for a range of sizes, and the shape stays pretty much the same from the smaller (female sizes) through the larger male. I would expect you'd need to adjust things to really fine-tune the fit, as much depends on the thickness of the leather, it's ability to stretch, the lacing allowance, and individual anatomy. I was wondering whether you had a pattern for males. Or can I just adjust the sizes for this pattern?
Thanks
BerBer Lazarushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07596470533057322472noreply@blogger.com
