I'm just starting out with a harness gag design. I've never done one before, so I'm trying out different ideas, proportions and ways to tie it all together. I'm not sure if the forehead strap is absolutely necessary, but I've always liked the way it looks...
I want to keep it as sleek as possible, with minimal hardware. Snug fitting, but without any pressure-points. I envision a big, mouth-filling leather gag built-in.
Time for some real-world testing...
I like the looks of it. Yes.
ReplyDeleteCool, thanks MM!
DeleteIt certainly looks nice! My only worry is the ring on the forhead. I have a head harness that I can't wear for too long or else it gets incredibly uncomfortable, unless there's some sort of padding under the ring, like a blindfold. I dunno if that's a real issue with your design, but it made me think of that.
ReplyDeleteThat said, again, it looks gorgeous.
That's a good point, about the ring - one reason I want to keep the hardware on the small side. There are other designs where the straps are riveted onto the outside of the mouth shield, but it looks neater if the straps are behind. Thanks for the comment!
DeleteSince you have a harness, you might know: do you think it needs a strap under the chin? I have some testing to do, but am thinking of trying that out as well...
Under-chin straps can add to the restrictiveness, and I really like that, but buckle placement can be kinda iffy. Mine can be a bit uncomfortable.
DeleteI've always wanted to try one of those gags with under-chin straps that wrap back around the neck.
I was thinking about the under chin strap that goes behind the neck as well. Something I remember from the harness gag Simone Devon used to use on Brandi...
DeleteSomething like this is about what I had in mind. It's definitely on my shopping list, if I can manage that much to spare:

Have you ever though of putting up a DIY portion on your blog where you can teach as well as market yourself? There really isnt any blogs out there on DIY BDSM especially with leather masks/gags/binders etc. I see your work and have been following this blog for almost 3 years and want some of my own pieces- whether purchased through you or if you did a Blo DIY...keep up the amazing job!!
ReplyDeleteI sort of thought the blog is mostly about DIY, or at least sharing my methods and patterns so others could follow along if they want to! It's the whole reason I started the blog in the first place: I couldn't find any information about techniques for making fetish gear.
DeleteJust click on the "How-to" label, and that takes you to all the step-by-step, DIY projects I've posted... Click on the "patterns" link for the patterns I've posted.
The blog has had a lot more traffic than I ever imagined, and the resulting number of requests for custom work is pretty overwhelming. I can't possibly handle them all. The main reason I continue the blog is sharing with others who may want to try making their own stuff...
